Moon Cactus

The moon cactus is a small round cactus native to the Summer Kingdom. It may look fuzzy and soft, but its thin spines are as razor-sharp and prickly as any other succulent's. The cactus is named both for the shape of the cactus itself and the flower that it grows throughout the year. Its bloom is white, featuring five wide petals that stay shut tight during the day to avoid burning the delicate skin and then relax into an almost perfectly round shape at night.
Moon cactuses are used throughout the kingdoms for a few purposes. The flesh has an unexpectedly sour flavor and is featured in several dishes in the Gaidarans. The flower has certain magical properties that make it useful as a spell component in niche circumstances, particularly a few rituals and spells related to the Wavekeeper. However, the rarety of the the moon cactus and especially its one bloom make it quite expensive to obtain or use in any quantity. It is therefore usually saved for special circumstances.
