Ounacho

On his journey to Ounacho, Edgar Everton fell about halfway down the cliff. He would have brought pitons with which to save himself had he been able to bring his rope. He would have brought his rope had he been able to bring his horse. He would have brought his horse had he been able to get her down this damn steep path. And he wouldn't have fallen so far and so hard had he been able to bring his pitons, so really he was doomed from the start.

Ounacho is a village nestled in the cliffs below Felimandoo. It is one of the smaller settlements in Summer, due in part to it's relative inaccessibility. The villagers pride themselves on their self-sufficiency despite their small size and out-of-the-way locale.

City Structure

The single path that leads to Ounacho starts at the base of Felimandoo and cuts down across the nearly sheer cliff face. The path ends at the steps of a temple to the Radiance, followed quickly by the town hall and the general store, before opening up into the small plateau that houses the village.

The villagers of Ounacho have become adept at building vertically as they take advantage of the cliffs around them. They make great use of the traditional Summerian building style that specializes in flat roofs and square structures for that reason. Homes in particular are often built on top of other buildings.

There is just enough space past the final buildings at the edge of town to host a few grazing livestock before the cliff continues its abrupt plummet towards the sea. Another path begins at the eastern edge to continue down to the small dock at the base of the cliff.

Government

As a village, Ounacho is not large enough to be worthwhile for merchant noble purposes. Therefore, the Quintessency appoints a Qu to oversee the administration of the village. The people of Ounacho have always been very vocal about ensuring one of their own is appointed and keeping them there. For many decades, elders of the village have governed as an unofficial council given authority by the one of them that is the appointed Qu.
