Session 043: Presents and Peril

General Summary

We begin as the North Wind trades their Cherry Snow gifts over dinner. Zenith gives Mohr an ear cuff partially made with his own glass blowing. Mohr gives Talasea a necklace enchanted to make their wearer feel as though they're on a boat. Talasea gives Aphid some nice doll clothes fit for a mouse. Aphid reveals that his request for guitar lessons previously was a ruse and gives Jack his own guitar, now outfitted with enchanted strings (they might continue to do lessons though). Jack finishes up by giving Zenith a little signet ring.
Talasea takes a moment to ask everyone's birthdays, which everyone definitely knew prior to that moment.
After dinner, Tal initiates a discussion about plans for saving folks from the void plane. Talasea shares that he now has a teleportation circle spell that could teleport them to the boat. The group brainstorms how they could use that spell once they get to the void. Talasea thinks about worshipping a new god in the hopes of getting a boon. The group discusses the theoretical relationships between the gods and whether they'd be offended by that. They finish up by reviewing what they know about the Greys, who they agree probably know about the void plane.
Mistletoe swings by to say goodbye and informs Aphid that Mossi has been engaged to someone else.
North Wind goes to rent 4 horses from the Spring Kingdom Stable Association, say goodbye to Thorn and Hazel (and agree to be safe abut twenty times), and then set out on the road.
Travel that day is quiet, the weave of the Spring Kingdom spreading out around them, serene.
That night, Talasea does their typical Sending to Temperance. However, the response he gets is not typical: "I'm sorry. Live your life well, okay? I think time is up. The dragon you fought, I think it had a mother. And I do not know how long it will follow us. I love you."
Zenith Sends to Verity and confirms that things are as usual on his end.
The group scrabbles together what information they can remember about the dragon they fought or recall about dragons in general. They figure that a parent of their dragon is probably pretty damn huge and powerful. Since it'll be stronger in its home turf, the crew's best bet would be to get the dragon (or themselves) out of home turf, but the dragon would likely be reluctant to leave and may have ways to stop from leaving.
Talasea conveys their info best he can in another Sending. He hears back: "Do not be sorry, my Talas. You have done what you could, my Talas. We will do what we can, but... you cannot get yourself trapped here trying to save us when it is too late."
The group decides to trade in their horses and travel through the night in order to reach the Verdant Quarter - and their best chance at help - more quickly.
The next day, while thundering down the road towards Vivaria, the group hears screams coming out of the Weave. They find two people fighting for their lives against vegetation. North Wind springs into (exhausted) action and begin slashing at the vines and roses. In the crowded undergrowth, it is difficult to tell friendly plants from foes, but the group seems to handle the aggressive plants kjust fine.
That is, until one of the people they're trying to save lurches to their feet, purplish splotches bleeding across their skin, and lunges for them...
