Session 044: Verdant Flight
General Summary
We begin as the North Wind finishes up a battle against a cluster of sentient plants and a person that has lurched towards them, skin blotched with purple. The group finishes off the plants in short order and reluctantly puts the person to rest as well. The survivor of the attack is shaken and panicked, but allows the group to escort them back to their village, along with the corpse of their companion. Zenith gathers a container of the purple fluid from the plants.
The group switches out their horses at the next Stable Association and continue on through the night.
After a long, grueling ride, the North Wind reaches the Gleaming Wood, a stretch of birch trees with yellow leaves that burn with the light of sunset. Here, they divert from the main path, trusting to Colby's directions (they gave y'all information on finding the Verdant Quarter, right?? Sure, we'll say they did I guess) and Aphid's knowledge of the area. For several more hours, they ride into the dark growth of not-quite-trees, in search of their final destination.
They are intercepted by a large stag that quickly transforms into a humanoid person that we all definitely remember the appearance and name of. He asks their business. Upon explanation (and a bit of begging), he agrees to bring them into the Verdant Quarter and see if he can scrounge up someone in a position of power for them to talk to. He turns back into a stag and leads the way into the wild growth.
It is dark as the North Wind enters the Verdant Quarter, shadows swathing their path through seemingly random vines and branches. However, they come to a set of ancient steps that lead to a corridor ending in a statue. The plaque at the base of the statue reads "founded by the Wandering Winds" or something along those lines that we all remember exactly.
Their stag companion leaves them for a time to go find someone who can actually make decisions. A lovely satyr returns in his stead and cheerfully informs them that he is getting a talking to since he wasn't supposed to leave his post. She explains that she will be escorting them to speak to Elder Alvia.
The satyr informs them that Alvia will respond better to their plight, their plea come begging in the middle of the night, if they get straight to the point. And then she leads the North Wind, exhausted and afraid, deeper into the Verdant Quarter.
