The Trials

The Trials are a series of competitions held throughout The Summer Kingdom over the course of the year. Anyone can participate, entrance fees being forbidden. Challenges are constructed to be completed by teams, though individuals are allowed to participate. The most common prize is 100g for each of the top three teams, though organizers are allowed to depart from the tradition.

The last trial of the year is held by the Quintessency. In order to participate in The Trial of Year's End, teams must have placed in the top three at three different trials. This stipulation narrows the participation quite drastically, some years only having a few teams eligible to compete. The top three winners of Year's End are all granted a considerable amount of gold. The first place winner is also granted a boon from the Quintessence, to be used however they wish (within reason).

There are teams that travel the whole year in order to follow the Trial Circuit, competing in each Trial throughout the year and taking odd jobs in the times between.
