Grandel's Orb of Illusion

A seemingly unassuming orb of solid metal engraved with a typhoon design. However its appearance belies this artifact's chaotic powers. The name of attached to this magical item is from one of the previous owners of the thing, not the one whom created it.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The exact insides of the orb are shrouded in mystery, however whatever is inside does allow the orb to gather magical energy and amplify it before unleashing a powerful pulse of Illusion magic based on what the wielder decides to chose. There is base "settings" that make the orb do Tactile Illusions on targets that is someone that has made a significant impact on a target, either good or bad. If the wielder wishes the releashed illusion magic will make Tactile Illusions based on the target's greatest nightmares or fears.

History

Created in ancient times by a particularly powerful wizard/mage of Illusion magic that was according to leggend a Demi-Human. They poured a good deal of power into the artifact enchanting it so that only certain types of people would be able to use it. After the dissappearance of the mage whom created it, their name lost to history, it changed hands many times with only a handful of owners even knowing the decorated orb of gleaming silver was magical to begin with. It's current owner is one Empress Izuna of the Kova League native to Faedruun.

Significance

One of the most powerful of artifacts created by a gifted mage in eons past on Faedruun. It's one of their most memorable creations simply for what it can do to those whom possess the right amount of knowledge about Illusion magic, and speculated to include those Psionics whom have Illusion based powers at a certain level of power. To anyone's knowledge only one of these orbs were ever made, though some say there is potentially more of them.
