The Decimation

"LEAVE NONE ARE WELCOME HERE"

The only thing that is known about The Decimation, is that it is a terrifying creature with the power to cause the disappearance and death of entire crews of star ships. It's existence was unknown before the rediscovery of the SM2-Python, a ship lost during the failed Tyrai Excursion. The ship's logs gave no indication of what exactly The Decimation might be. The only thing suggesting that it is a vaguely humanoid creature, is that it (or something believed to be it) appeared on a fragment of a holo log that had been recorded by the ship's Chief Pilot Axini Suhd.

Some Ahsi scholars have examined the logs from the Python and have theorized that it's possible The Decimation is actually Xi their god of destruction, "The Void" as its title is more often translated.¹ Ahsi religion notes that Xi is said to have the ability to make others simply disappear into an all consuming darkness and religious figures warn that if The Decimation really is Xi, then it cannot be allowed to escape the Tyrai system (which they believe to be the place referred to in their myth of how Xian defeated and imprisoned Xi within a black hole) as its escape would mean the end of all life.

1: The word xi means "darkness, void" and refers to the absence of light however, Ahsi refer to the star Cianlis orbits as Xian, as their Goddess of Light, and light itself (or other stars) as xian meaning "without darkness".
