Amaterasu

One of the most revered goddesses in Kawakuni, she is the sun goddess, appointed by the creator gods to rule heaven and the other gods. Her descendents went on to found and rule the Kawakunese Empire, until it dissolved into civil war. Though her descendents failed at ruling, she still leads the gods and rules heaven.
Amaterasu is not only the goddess of the sun, she is the sun. She journeys around the world each day, keeping an eye on both it and heaven at the same time. The one time she did disappear from the world, after her brother Susanoo went on a rampage, destroying part of heaven and Kawakuni, the sun disappeared and plunged the world into chaos.
