The Great Shear

A deep gorge runs across the land separating the kingdom of the west from The Free Confederacy and the eastern lands.
There is only one bridge which crosses The Great Shear connecting East town and West Town but recently (231 A.E.) East Town barricade the bridge preventing anyone from passing in either direction.
At the bottom of the gorge runs a fast moving and dangerous river.
