Session 05 - The End of Atreshan

The Full Summary

After defeating the soul amalgamation high in the library, Shanboa looks through Haeri Steyles' pockets to retrieve a key. They then wake up Haeri, to ask what the hell was going on. Haeri used the ritual to preserve the souls of all those who had died (there's more to it, but you'll soon find out it is no longer relevant to the story... sigh). While he is just sitting there on the ground, the party discusses what to do with him, openly talking about killing him (this will be the first of several poor decisions the party makes this session). At the same time Shanboa receives a message from his patron to kill Haeri, it doesn't elaborate, and he temporarily loses his Spell Slots for being unable to comply. With Haeri gone, they try and find the the house to which the key belongs to, but decide to set fire to the library first, just to spite (Paladin).   When the library is slowly burning down, Shanbao tries the key on the various houses in the district, spending an awful lot of time. Only to find Haeri's house mostly destroyed and no key-hole, they do however find a bunch of random items that the party takes with them (see rewards). Unable to find Haeri, Shanbao implores his patron to give him some aid, which he allows to by giving Shanbao a mental compass. Knowing the Haeri has now left the city, he and the party, except Pete, run for their skyship to catch up to him. In the meanwhile Pete  decides in good luck to find and capture Haeri, before Shanbao does (the true reason for this still eludes me...).   After a game of hide and seek, where Pete wins and some daring maneouveres (read: overshoot the skyship and turning it around as they haven't quite figured out how to use it yet). Shanbao eventually captures Haeri and after some minor roleplay where they get none the wiser of Haeri's intentions (he just wanted to save the souls of all the children lost), Shanbao slits Haeri's throat, as he does so, he goes into a trance-like state, where his sickle drains Haeri's screaming soul from his body and the body ages incredibly fast, turning to dust in mere seconds. Shanbao has no memory of this, get's the approval of his Undying patron and life goes on.   Back in Lunaris the party once again goes to the Slums, receiving the same message: "If you want our help, reclaiming Atreshan, kill the head of the Skyshard Federation (I put his name somewhere...).". Without much planning (see where this is going), Prolix and Pete are teleported by (Necromancer) 5 stories up to infiltrate the private quarters of their target. When Prolix and Pete get into a fight, (Necromancer) runs up with his spiderwalk ability to assist them. Pete runs off, taking the daughter hostage, while Prolix and (Necromancer) get captured. (Necromancer) goes downhill very quickly (as in thrown off the building, falling to his death quickly. Don't worry, Shanbao sacrifices 5 max HP to ressurect him, no worries) and Prolix makes a deal to infiltrate and deal with the Slums, only to backtrack and try and double-cross the federation once more...    When the exchange finally happens, neither the slums, nor the party was prepared... the federation took their last functional skyship and with power of magic, had rendered it invisible. After showing the power they had, the party agreed to turn over the daughter and leave Skyshard Federation territory. Flying away on their own skyship (a deal is a deal), they leave their home behind and looking back, they see the federation bombard the last of Lunaris and take their leave as well (nothing bad will come from this...).   Having been outlawed and now having the means to explore the vast everpresent twilight that is the world of Fractured, our party heads to Irvi-II, a known pirate hideout. After some banter and bullshitting their way into Irvi-II, they scout around some bit (well Pete does and finds a well-guarded warehouse) and afterwards make a decision that does kill off a party member, permanently (poor Kyryl, Shanbao's patron doesn't feel like being used as a party trick).
