Abuses of Magic

Magic is dangerous practice that one needs to be careful with. The abuse of magic, either over too much time or in too much quantity, can have a disastrous impact on the user’s health. The two most serious conditions are Arcinitis and Demonisation.

When using magic, the user let’s magical energy flow through their body. This produces a radioactive energy. With proper training and practice, the mage’s autoimmune system can safely counter this radioactive effect and the user sees no impact on their health.

However, while the body and mind can be very resilient, mortals have limits. The abuse of magic can overwhelm the caster’s system and radiations can start affecting the user.

Magical radiation is different from normal radiation in that it also affects the soul. When exposed to high levels of magical radiations, the victim not only starts noticing changes in their bodies but also in their personality and mood.

Body mutations can result in the apparition of scally patches, fur, changes of color in the skin, fur or eyes, horns, tail, claws and teeth.

Personality changes often lead to more aggressive behavior.
