Vociferous Loy - Loyas Vocificas

Basic Information

The Vociferous Loy is a particularly devilish creature that resides primarily within walking distance of bodies of water, especially preferring fresh water near humanoid establishments. They can be easily spotted due to the unique and beautiful striping on their back. These creatures are sought after as exotic pets in some regions of the world, but humanoid creatures are advised to take caution when interacting or approaching as they usually work in packs and are known to carefully unbutton and unzip pants of unsuspecting persons and tie shoelaces together.

Origin of Species

Scientist believe that the Vociferous Loy is related to the Common Loy, or Loyas Loyas. They believe these two species diverged within the last 100 years, with the Common Loy originating from the isle of Layo (after which it is named). How did this mischievous species end up in Solaris? Solaris is a coastal city within 500 miles of Layo, and during the colonization of the island people of Layo by Solaris, scientist believe that the species snuck onto ships returning from Layo with gold and tropical fruit (they were not kicked off the ships due to their sweet nature and the adorable licking sound they make when eating tropical fruits).

What To Do In An Encounter

If you are in high-risk Loy territory (Tavern District of Solaris), please avoid wearing any garments with clasps or zippers to avoid the risk of 'Loy Pantsing.' Also take care to wear laceless shoes. If you are unfortunate enough to encounter a Vociferous Loy and are ready for the event, the Vociferous Loy may try pulling on your pants, but, like their cousins, they are very partial to tropical fruits so if you have one, do offer the Loy a fruit and they should leave you alone.

Unusual Reported Behaviors -- Menace to Society?

There have been recent reports that the Vociferous Loy has been sighted to pin down humanoid creatures and vehemently tickle them. No injuries have been reported and many have said it was the best laugh they've ever had.

Government Action

While the Vociferous Loy is not considered dangerous, it has been very troublesome to upper-class visitors on trips to the Tavern District and as such the government has been called to action. In response, the Solaris officials have plastered the area with warning signs and started a public campaign to reduce Loy attacks. Billboards have been posted throughout the city as well as postings of images of the Vociferous Loy so the populace can keep themselves in their pants.
