Fanged Mountains

As impressive and threatening as the name implies, the Fanged Mountains lie between the Nineward Coalition on the nineward side and the Empire of Fangs on the byssward side and are what gave the Empire its name. Punishingly difficult to cross, with the sole mountain pass appropriate for trade (The Balmy Wicket) on the extreme widdershins end bordering the Inner Sea, the Fanged Mountains have long served as a natural barrier between the Empire and the city-states.
There is theoretically a tallest mountain in the chain somewhere, but the search for it was given up long ago because, in the words of a Nineward Coalition explorer, "What's the bloody point? You look at one massive peak, say to yourself 'That's got to be the tallest one, there's NO WAY there are any taller,' climb it, and when you get to the top there are two dozen more just as pants-wettingly tall on the other side."
