Sea Elf

A very long time ago, near the beginning of the time when mortals were given dominance over Fulcrum, the elf race underwent a great split. Some elves migrated to nineward end of the supercontinent; these tribes begat the lineage the became the high elves, drow, and wood elves. Another population of elves traveled to the shores of the Inner Sea, developed a deep connection to the water and the creatures that live there, and became the Sea Elves.

Sea elves to this day share many biological and cultural markers with their terrestrial cousins, but no one would ever mistake one for the other. Sea elves live in large, floating constructions of coral that have just as much mass under the surface as above it and are continually renewing, growing, and changing. In a cultural sense, the sea elves are much more laid back than many other races, with a very loose advisory council structure for governance, and do not actively steer their settlements except in dire emergencies. They are largely content to let the wind and currents dictate their destinations. When sea elf cities draw close to a terrestrial settlement, a flurry of trading and cultural exchange normally follows.
