Warforged
Created by an ancient and mysterious civilization, the race of living constructs known as the Warforged have existed for at least as long as Tomen's Wall, and are typically discovered laying dormant in the numerous ruins that dot the The Walled Reach. While their dormancy can be ended by a specific trigger, this trigger can be literally anything: a word, the touch of a material, an emotion expressed at a specific time of day, etc. Additionally, every single trigger has proven completely unique, making the process of awakening a Warforged an incredibly slow and laborious process. Most Warforged remain dormant, waiting for their triggers to be found.
The Warforged that have been awakened retain no memories of their existence before now and have personalities and interests as varied as any species, although they tend towards being thoughtful, deliberate, and understated. They are usually named after the trigger that awakened them, leading to names like "Sound-of-Howling-Wolves" or "Word-Lugubrious" or "Touch-of-Water-on-the-Vernal-Equinox."
