A Brief History of Fund
History
The exact age of Fund is unknown, but recorded history dates back as far as 15,000 years ago,
though the records are sparse. Most anyone you ask on Fund will tell you that the world is
older than the sun, which for an outsider who knows there is no stars anywhere
near Fund, will find this, odd. Another thread that you find from the most extreme
and radical thinking of Fund’s people is that the world was first created as a
'Playground' for the Gods, where they did all that they pleased, from creation
to destruction, till eventually all of the Gods grew bored and stop meddling
nearly as much. The races that were left fought with each other in a nearly
endless war, until the Gods came back and put things in order, Known as the
First Era (Years, 0 - 10000 VC )
The Second Era Began as the dust settled from the Gods intervention, what form that intervention
took has not been recorded, we only know that none who were there have survived. For A
while Fund was nothing more than a dumping ground for the Gods’ Failed
experiments or undesired creations, but soon the mortal races rose together to
try and rise from the rubble, the second half of the Second Era was marked by
the beginning of the first few nations of Mercy, Chumane, Corrvis, And The East
lands. A Hero in each one of these regions, along with a powerful Avatar worked
with proud groups of adventurers to build nations from nothing. The Gods took
notice of the mortals creating mighty nations for themselves, some of the gods
relished in the fact that they were finally coming to together and once more
saw value in this realm, while others saw this as challenge to there once
lawless world. The God to take most offense was Tiamat, The Dragon Goddess of
Chaos. She decided that if Fund could no longer be used for her experiments,
then it should burn. Bahamut, The Dragon God of Justice, did all he could to
drive off Tiamat, but no avail. Tiamat abused her powers as a god like no
other, warping and mutating her own creations to make a powerful army, The
Spawns. A mighty hero, by the name of Vallum Stalaris, rose through the ranks
in Mercy and, with his adventuring party in tow, defeated Tiamat and banished
her for 1000 years, and thus the Second Era came to a close (Years, 1 EM – 4,337
EM)
In the beginning of the Third Era, Vallum left Mercy and founded his own nation
(in the area that is presently Chargrove) called Vaal. Thanks to Vallum’s Ancestry
(widely believed to be a Demi-God) he lived for much longer than any other man, and with his
help Vaal exceeded all other countries in power, resources, and Technology, rivaling earths current
technology in terms of ease of use and ingenuity. However, Vallum suddenly
became obsessed with protecting the world from some outside threat seemingly
beyond the powers of gods, and in response he began delving into a dangerous
practice, Soul Magic. Vallum soon became consumed by power and was having
citizens of Vaal brainwashed, weaponized, or sacrificed their very souls to
make Vallum stronger. Then came the day that Vallum was able to summon a lesser
God and absorb its power. Vallum sought out more lesser gods and began draining
any and all power that he could from them amassing even more power. Camps
around Vaal formed with the soul purpose of feeding massive amounts of souls to
Vallum. The more souls Vallum absorbed though the more deranged he became, his
psyche was fractured and broken, and most people knew this but worshipped him
as their ‘Shattered God’. Vallum finally announced his plans to absorb 80% of
the worlds souls and the rest would find salvation under his protection. That
announcement spurned the rest of the nations of the world into finally joining
together in a united front to end Vallum’s madness. With Mercy’s Daughters
leading the charge against the nation of Vaal it was toppled in mere weeks and
Vallum was sealed away far beneath the surface of Fund and the Third Era came
to a climatic end. (Years, 4,338 – 5,055 EM)
The Fourth Era put light on an area of contention for
the mortal races, The problem of racism and slavery. With the threat of Vallum
finally ended, the nation of the East Lands brought up the issue of Vallums
rantings and what it could truly mean and whether or not they should continue
to work together for the benefit of Fundekein. Mercy Royalty agreed it would be
beneficial until the East lands asked that they release the countless
Beast-race slaves that they kept. Any talks to be had after that quickly broke
down as the races of Man argued that the Beast-races were only a step above
actual animals and required their guidance. While the Beast-races argued how
corruptible that the races of Man are, citing the recent folly of Vallum. War
between Mercy and the East Lands finally broke out only months after the
sealing of Vallum. The war lasted for nearly 300 years, but East lands won when
Mercy lost their most capable weapons (The Daughters of Mercy) in mysterious
and horrific accident. While the East Lands won freedom for their people the
animosity remained. After only another 50 years without conflict the war
between Mercy and the East Lands erupted again. This time Mercy had the might
of the Paladin order behind them and using the superior weaponry from the Vaal.
The war took a turn for the worse for the East Lands when Mercy finally made
use of a new set of ‘Daughters’. They were on the cusp of defeat when a catastrophic
event shook the foundation of Fund itself and all at once, Mercy lost all of
its royalty, the ‘Daughters’, their capital, and even the Paladins Citadel,
ending the war abruptly. And closing another Era (Years, 5,056 – 5,337)
After the wars sudden end Mercy fell apart, with each
lord struggling to keep what power they have left. The whole nation became a
feudal nightmare with constant infighting and betrayal, its common citizens
doing their best to survive in a nation that can no longer support or protect
them. The East Lands suddenly closed their borders, the innerworkings currently
taking place behind their walls a mystery, the rest of the nations face an
economic downturn as the biggest exporter of goods suddenly fell apart and the
next biggest secluded themselves from the world, forcing the remaining nations
to worry about themselves. With the nations divided and weak who knows what
might befall Fund next. (Current Year 5,362)
