Growth Rate & Stages
Each Archon goes through the same stages of life with only the first three being, physically, the same for every individual. the stages are as listed, in order
Lantern archons are small balls of light that float through Mount Celestia, contemplating their mortal life and lighting the way for travelers. They never leave Mount Celestia and only after a minimum of a few years do they ever evolve past this stage, some spending centuries as lantern archons.
Hound archons are the most plentiful of the archons besides lanterns, they actively guard the hills of Celestia and aid those that they can while. They take the form of a someone similar to a Lupin and carry swords blessed by true angels. They move past this stage only when they feel like they have truly protected enough people, possibly taking centuries more.
Trumpet archons are one of the few archons that actively leave Celestia. They deliver messages to and from the Material Plane for archons and angels alike. They take the form of a blue skinned humanoids with wings. It is rare for archons to move past this stage as they get to serve the greater good and in some cases even aid the gods of Celestia.
Word archons are where all archons finally achieve physical individuality, becoming what they strive to be. Word archons serve as guards to the few mortal settlements located in Celestia. They only move past this stage if given the right to by a Crown archon, usally done after great deeds or slaying a demon that has slipped into Celestia.
Throne archons are the other type of archon that are known for leaving Celestia. Throne archons serve the Crown archons and carry out their will directly, especially if it means leaving Celestia and going to any other plane. They are even known for going to hell on occasion to carry out their orders. Only the most accomplished Throne archons are made into Justice archons when a new one is needed. This is also the stage where an archon can become a true angel, serving underneath a particular god.
Justice archons are the archons that are in charge of each settlement within Celestia. They watch over these settlements, protecting them and making decisions when necessary. A Justice archon becomes a Crown archon when a new one is needed, and they are appointed by a True Archon.
Crown archons are in charge of Celestia as a whole. There are only 15 of them at any one time. They oversee all things that take place within Celestia and ensure that those that have passed can live their afterlife in peace.
The only thing that is actually known about True archons is that there are only 5 of them, and they protect Celestia in its gravest moments.

History
Archons are the souls of mortals who have made it to Mount Celestia, more commonly known as heaven. Each archon retains their memories of their life and must use their afterlife better themselves as people, going through many trials and evolutions to eventually reach the status of a true angel and serve a god directly.
