Special abilities
He is a decent Cleric and can perform simple clerical feats, but most of the magic he knows is tailored towards aiding him in research

He constantly carries a two sets of dirks, one set that has been blessed by the divine, and another that has been cursed with infernal magics, so that no matter what sort of attention he gets from his studies, he's able to deal with it

Personal history
Sangreth has spent much of his life interested in the Divine and studying it, so much so that he has even ignored most of what has been happening in Mercy to continue his own ventures, becoming rather disconnected to most people. Eventually this got him in trouble with nobles when he decided that his coin was better spent on research materials than paying their "silly taxes". So he ran away from cities to continue his work on the wilderness, however bounty was put out on him. A bounty that Leroux had come to collect on, but after making a deal for his life Leroux left with one of Sangreth's fingers and let him continue, only to contact him days later and fully support him in his studies.
Education
Spent time becoming a doctor so that he can more accurately determine true Divine intervention and magic when it happens, vs a simple medical solution that was overlooked
He has spent most of his life studying Divines and has expansive knowledge of them

While rather intelligent, he can short sighted and regularly makes ill advised decisions for the sake of learning about things that interest him

While he would do quite alot in the pursuit of knowledge, he wouldnt willing endanger innocent people (other than himself) in that pursuit

While at first apphrensive to have any contact with Leroux, he has quickly abandoned any negative feelings towards the half-dragon and happy to work alongside somebody that can understand his passion for his work even a little
