Wendigo
Basic Information
Anatomy
They widely range in their actually morphology, some may appear rather humanoid, while others are far more monstrous and is what most people think about when they hear of a Wendigo. Most have a layer of brown or Black fur, but some have been seen with either no fur at all or white fur. Some have been seen even having bodies composed of wood, similar to that of a Lichen. Though the trait that they all share is their bleached white and exposed cervidae skull with antlers.
Genetics and Reproduction
Wendigo are given life be the forest they usually inhabit. If a need must be filled and the forest is dense with magic, it will give rise to a new Wendigo, but they themselves are entirely sterile
Ecology and Habitats
Wendigo will usually stay within the forest that they are made, however some have ventured away from their forest to attempt to live there own lives
Dietary Needs and Habits
What they need to eat depends on the nature of their creation. While more docile and sentient Wendigo created as caretakers to the forest may be entirely herbivorous, those that are made as a dangerous protector to the woods may be obligate carnivores
Behaviour
Most Wendigo are hostile to any form of life that is not part of their forest natural ecosystem, and will challenge or simply attack any that wander in, even those of another sentient race. Even the more sentient Wendigo compelled by this, and some have even been known to attempt to slip into society only to destroy from the inside if they find it will harm their forest
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Any part of a Wendigo can be used as material for magical rituals or potions, and some people track them down to slay them and sell their bodies to apothecaries and alchemist for a decent amount of coin
Average Intelligence
Can range widely from completely sentient to animalistic
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They have perfect darkvision and a weak life detection around them, but they have trouble seeing in direct sunlight and usually keep out of it when they can. They have no sense of smell whatsoever and usually rely on a heightened sense of taste akin to a snake.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
They are almost always completely symbiotic with the forest that they inhabit, providing constant care, nourishment, and protection. Though some are made to entirely annihilate a foreign species in the forest, and these ones are far less 'symbiotic'
Civilization and Culture
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
There have been a limited amount of Wendigo who have traveled away from there forest in an attempt to become part of society and live there lives just as easily as any other race, though because of their nature and possible plans, most are treated with distrust and distaste
