Bulkington

Bulkington is a village in Wiltshire, that dates back to at least the 11th century, it is located north-north-west of Birdencaster and is known for its apple cultivation and trade. In the 2011 census the village of Bulkington had a reported population of 285 but now has a population of 556. Bulkington is one of the many places that regularly trades with Birdencaster, which trades apples for wood, canned products and apple cider on a regular basis. This will of course include Wolf pelts if the travelling merchants get attacked.   They cannot make cider themselves as they do not have the skills to make the drink. If they did they would make vinegar which is undesired and its margins are much lower than the cost needed to make it.   It has been recorded in the Doomsday Book (1086), that Bulkington was originally woodland. This woodland was then cut down to make way for homes and much later cultivation. The area around bulking is sparse of trees, other than apple orchards.   Apple cultivation is so prevalent because Johnny Miller, a resident of the village, saved the village's apple cultivation industry. These apples are harvested manually as it is cheaper and gives more people of the village employment. These apples are put in bushels, which are then loaded on the carts to be traded, or stored if they intend to go trading in the future.   As apples are a perishable food item they sort the less desired apples from those to be traded. With the less desired ones, apart from eating them. The villagers turn these apple sauce. This apple sauce then later gets traded with Birdencaster if they have a surplus.
