Mayor

Mayors are elected officials within cities. Unlike cities like London, the Mayor of Birdencaster are elected among the ranks of councillors, therefore to become a Mayor the citizen needs to be a councillor first.

Type of Role

Since this role is an Elective one, meaning that they are elected into their role, it is therefore earned and not given. The length of their term before they have to be reelected is 4 years. This is term length often doesn’t change however when a Mayor has been elected and dies during their term their councillors run the city and while simultaneous choosing who should be the next Mayor be.
The public will be aware of both situations and will pressure the local government into making a decision on getting a new Mayor.
The role of the Mayor is not gendered allowing for both genders to do the role. The female counterpart is called a Mayoress. While they make the policies of Birdencaster, they are not above the law as The City Gaurd have jurisdiction while the police do not.

Perks Of The Role

The perks of the role are;

• The Mayor can choose whether or not to do an Extra Employment position which others cannot. Most Mayors will choose to do Extra Employment positions to be close to the people they are making policies for
.
• They have their own office in City Hall and uniform.
• They can make policies that can change the lives of the citizens of Birdencaster.
• They can make changes to the trade of either direction, however, this is done in small amounts as to not be too suspicious. They can change the amounts of commodities or even add commodities on the list to be added to trade items to send to or from Birdencaster.
• They get their own home, while they keep their original home or apartment. They can move themselves and their family into the Mayor’s residence, although this doesn’t happen if the Mayor’s children are very young. Once they have gotten older. The other parent and the children can move in together.

As part of changing trade items or communicating with other cities the Mayor can use a Cypher Wheel to encrypt his or her messages.
