Alexander comes home to find his family slain by a humanoid monster that had broken into his home, he slays the beast but dies from wounds sustained during battle. He is interred into his tomb in the Mausoleum of Heroes five days later.

Publicly the story ends at Alexander's death at the hands of the monster who slew his family. Secretly, however, the beast was, in fact, a vampire. Alexander did fight off the beast and did technically die, though the beast passed on its vampirism infecting Alexander. Who in turn awoke from his death four nights after his initial passing. In fear that his new hunger may pose a threat to the residence of Roseport, he decides to intentionally intern himself in his own tomb.
