Emblematist

An emblematist is a magical professional that specialises in the creation and sometimes the removal of emblems. Due to the importance of emblems in Etera and several other regions of the world, being an emblematist is seen as a very important profession. Since most types of emblems are highly regulated, the art of becoming an emblematist is too. Since emblems are based on curse-magic, most emblematists are also proficient curseweavers.

Types of Emblematists

Due to the regulated nature of emblems, most emblematists are associated with at least one school or academie. Like all educational institutes in the world these schools or academies can be associated with a certain nation, region and/or group of people.
Creating even low-level permanent emblems is a very difficult task. Most emblematists thus specialise in creating only one or two types of permantent emblems and mainly focus on achieving a high proficiency in those types. Depending on the complexity of the emblem, some high-ranked emblematists are also able to remove certain low-levelled emblems. Learning this skill takes long years of specialisation however. Since emblem-removal is illegal in most cases, most emblematists focus on creating emblems, rather than removing them.

Schools of Emblematists

Loria

The Lorian schools of emblematists focus mainly on the creation of identifying, permanent emblems, which are necessary for public organisation. Since it is illegal to remove these identifying emblems after a person's coming-of-age, most Lorian schools do not teach how to remove Lorian emblems. Since human curiosity is limitless, some emblematists do try to learn this skill however, even if it is strongly punished.

Eandal

Since the kindom of Eandal does not depend on emblems for the identification for the common population, most of the Eandalian schools for emblematists focus mainly on the creation of temporary emblems for short-term use and general identification, rather than specific. Only the identifying emblems for aristocrats are specific and of a permanent duration. Since levels of citizenship and even aristocratic titles can change, the emblematist schools of the kindom specialise more in the removal of these emblems than their counterparts from other regions.

Kastia

Similar to the Lorian ones, the Kastian schools mainly focus on identifying emblems in order to organize their population. Contrary to the Lorian emblems, most Kastian emblems are of a limited duration.

Fhyrir and the Dunarian caravan

Fhyrir and the Dunarian caravan in general do not rely on emblems for the organization of their population. Based on the Dunarian tradition of gathering knowledge, most Dunarian emblematists focus on learning from other schools. Since the creation of a nation's emblems is a very sensitive issue, however, most Dunarian and Fhyrian emblematists focus on learning from the emblems of non-nation bound groups, including the emblems of cults, mercenaries and other ideological groups.
