The Path of the Lost

The Path of the Lost, or simply the Lost, are a decentralized group of people who lost their way, either figuratively or literally. The Lost are people who are seeking their path and are looking for things that have been displaced, destroyed or otherwise disappeared. Some even look for things that never existed in the first place. Connected through their feeling of absence of something important, the Lost offer each other refuge and shelter in their personal quests.   When meeting someone with great feelings of longing for something that is gone, any member of the Lost will invite you towards the Path of the Lost. While most Lost are actively looking for something, some have resigned to the feeling of lacking. To the Path of the Lost it is all the same. As long as a person longs for something which is lost, the Path of the Lost will aid them on their way.

Organization

Albeit missing any kind of structural organization, the Path of the Lost are by no means a secret group. Many monasteries are spread around the world alongside lonely roads and many paladins have sworn their oath to aide others in finding their way. The Lost don’t hide their affiliation, unless personally motivated to do so.   While some scholars describe the Path of the Lost as a Conviction, the Lost do not have a formal membership or any kind of rules, nor teachings to follow. While certain monasteries or organizations linked to the Lost might have their own regulations, the Path of the Lost itself do not. All who are lost in one way or another and who are willing to help others who are lost are considered part of the Path of the Lost.   The Lost typically help those who share their own sense of displacement of themselves or of something or someone. Each Lost is free to choose their own way of helping. Some form groups in monasteries, swearing to help all passerby's who need their help. Others collect information and share them with those looking for it, albeit sometimes at a price. Some even help through less legal means.   While many Lost offer their help for free, many are also wary after being taken advantage of one too many times. Some Lost might request to hear your story and what you are looking for before giving you help.

Identification

Due to the lack of actual centralized organization, the Path of the Lost do not have a single means of identification. Different areas and different organizations withing the group can have different ways of recognizing each other. All Lost do however know the following question and will help you depending on their terms when asked:
“I’m lost. Can you show me the way to the Path?”
