The humans of Gai'ia were born from the blood of Cobol, the primordial betrayer spirit. As his blood ran into the oceans of the world, humans arose from it. And with it, they inherited his ambition. There is no art that a human cannot master if they put their mind to it, and it is just this drive that almost drove them to the same fate as their father...
History is stained with the actions of the Ancient Humans, who sought to harness the natural world for mass-production and global sovereignty. They built great machines of industry and war, taking over most of the world with gunpowder and smoke. For reasons now unknown, however, the great empire they built fell, and now humans live in small communities that dot the world, connected by nothing but trails and sometimes telephone poles. The machines of these ancients live on, Wandering Engines that try to fulfill their purpose even if their original masters are gone.
