Amazons
The Amazons are a sea-faring peoples from the islands far to the West of Yatangar. They claim to be descandents of Umberlee, the Goddess of the Sea, who gifted the islands of Amazonia to her chosen daughters.
Amazonian culture is a martial matriarchy in which only women may hold positions of power as political leaders and admirals. Further values include the strife for excellence, self-control, personal honor an pride in order to prove their worth as the daughters of a goddess.
Few men saw the islands of Amazonia and returned to tell the tale, for they usually taken as slaves to work the fields on the outlying islands or serve to provide daughters to the Amazons, which may then be raised as the next generations of scholars, warriors, tradeswomen and rulers.
