Arrival of the Dragons
One day it ocurred that Annam had to leave the world. He sensed that a great beast was lurking in the astral sea, devouring entire worlds, and that this being had set its sights on the world he and his love had created.
So he left Gaia and their children behind, but not before instructing the giants to protect their mother and continue building the world. To this end, he created the Ordning, which gave each giant a fixed place before he set off on his hunt. The giants continued their work but after a while they were overcome with discontent and boredom. No longer under the stern gaze of their father, some giants abandoned their work and explored the rest of the world.
When the storm giants tried to restore order, a quarrel broke out. Brother turned against brother and sister against sister as the giants fought for dominance. It was at this moment that the creatures that had been waiting beyond the veil descended upon the world. Huge creatures with sharp claws and teeth appeared in the sky. They attacked the quarrelling giants and pushed them back with force and magic.
The two most powerful of these dragons, Bahamut and Tiamat, found Gaia completely unprotected and tore her apart with their claws. When Annam returned, it was already too late, his beloved Gaia was dead and strange creatures had invaded his home. Instead of driving the dragons away, he turned his back on the world and his children.
Overcome by grief and anger, he swore that he would not return until the giants had claimed the world for themselves, for they had failed to protect it and their mother. He then disappeared into the astral sea to give free rein to his emotions.
