Bloody Bride
Mistress of Revenge (a.k.a. Maiden of Murder)
It is said that the Bloody Bride was once a mortal woman of nobility. When she was still young, a bandit lord conquered her father's castle and killed all the inhabitants except for the young girl. The bandits captured her and the bandit leader decided that his son would take the girl as his bride when she was old enough to legitimize the conquest of the castle.
The night before her wedding, she desperately called for help from her dungeon. The god Cyric was nearby and heard her cries and appeared to the hopeless woman. They talked long into the night and Cyric finally decided to help her. Whether he did so out of compassion or with a sinister ulterior motive is unclear. He gave her the ability to walk through walls and move unnoticed. However, instead of simply fleeing, the freed lady smashed her mirror and grabbed a large shard. When the bandit prince awoke the next morning and could not find his future wife in her room, he set off in search of her. However, he found neither her nor any of his men. Until he went into the throne room. There he saw a large banquet prepared as if for a celebration. The mutilated corpses of his men had been arranged on the benches and chairs as a grotesque image of a party and he saw the remains of his family prepared into gruesome dishes on the tables. At the end of the throne room sat the supposed bride wrapped in a bloody wedding dress.
There are several different stories about the end of the bandit prince. Some say he fled and the bloody bride had great fun hunting him down. Others say she forced him to eat his own family, which had been prepared for food, until his stomach was literally bursting open. Some even claim that to this day he is repeatedly murdered by the bride, whereupon she revives him and keeps him captive as an eternal pet for torture. What is certain, however, is that the Bloody Bride fell in love with her savior during her cruel revenge. So in the midst of this terrible banquet, she summoned Cyric and when he actually appeared, she held a grotesque version of a wedding ceremony and married the god.
It is unclear whether he willingly submitted to the union or was forced to do so by the mad woman. However, he soon transferred some of his divine work to his bride. She was to take care of all the brutal and bloodthirsty murderers and revenge-seekers in whom Cyric himself had little interest.
This is the legend of how the bloody bride became the mistress of revenge and murder.
