Eris
Goddess of Discord and Strife / Mistress of Chaos
The oppressed and powerless pray to Eris when they are dissatisfied with their place in the world. With the blessing of the goddess, they overthrow the powerful and take their place at the top. But they know that this place will only last for a short time.
Because just as the Mistress of Chaos once supported them, she now helps those who feel unhappy in the new order.
True followers of Eris know that the world is always changing and that if you are not vigilant you can lose everything you have worked so hard for. You have to earn the goodwill of the goddess every day. Eris loved the world as it was in the beginning. Wild, untamed, uncertain. A world in which the strong, clever and ruthless only survive through constant competition until only the best remain. At least until someone better comes along and takes her place. A world filled with violence, intrigue and heroism, a spectacle for the gods.
So when mortals began writing down laws and avoiding conflict, all of that was lost. Social structures that provided a fixed place for everyone and the masses listened to the words of a fat descendant of a great hero from long ago, instead following the most worthy among them, brought little entertainment.
So Eris helps all those who long to tear down the structures and rebuild. A little power in the right hands and a few enticing words are enough to turn a quiet kingdom into a bunch of warring cities, back to glorious chaos. What works on mortals also works on gods. When the gods once again celebrated a year-long feast, Eris took out a crown and asked which of the gods this crown should belong to. With this simple question, she brought about a celestial war, the likes of which had never been seen before. All just to provide a litte variety.
