Ilmater
The Weeping God (a.k.a. The Broken God / Lord of Agony / Whe who endures)
Ilmater gives comfort to those who suffer pain, are oppressed or are in great need. He does this by enduring suffering if it means he can reduce the suffering of others.
Kind and benevolent, Ilmater is a quiet, even-tempered deity who willingly bears the burdens and tears of a suffering world on his shoulders. He is difficult to anger, but in the face of extreme inhumanity and cruelty, his wrath is truly terrible. He cares for and protects children and other young creatures with great care and takes exceptional offense at those who dare to offend them. Misunderstood by many, pitied and even despised by a vocal minority, the Church of Ilmater has one of the largest and most devout followings on all of Gaia. In a cruel world, the suffering, the sick and the poor have learned to trust in the followers of the Weeping God alone, who offer succor to all.
The Church of Ilmater is widely popular among the common folk of populated areas, providing ample support for its clergy on their lifelong mission of healing. Those who do not understand why believers of Ilmater willingly subject themselves to such torment and cruelty are those who misunderstand the Church. Among those who hate weakness, the Weeping Deity is seen as weak and foolish. Cruel tyrants, as well as powerful villains, dangerously underestimate their members. Followers of Ilmater share what they have with those in need, always making time for those who are upset and caring for those who are injured. They speak for the oppressed, guide the lost, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, gather herbs and prepare medicine for future disasters. They bury the dead, treat the sick and give firewood, food and drink to the poor. They see life and suffering as sacred, but they do not stand in the way of others' desires or condemn them for their chosen path.
When a war is imminent and time permits, clerics of Ilmater will increasingly gather stretchers, shovels, tents, splint materials and wagonloads of bandages, medicine and healing potions to tend to those who will suffer. They also travel to the wealthier cities and settlements of Gaia to beg for money for the church. Ilmater is an elder deity who had long been associated with his patron Tyr and Torm, who together formed the Triad. The Triad worked closely together as they were stronger as a union than as individuals. Ilmater is also allied with Lathander. He opposes those deities who delight in the destruction, pain and misery of others. These are primarily Loviatar and Talona, whose nature is completely opposite to his own.

Physical Description
General Physical Condition
The Broken God appears as a man whose body has been severely mutilated by punishment on the rack. Signs of torment and torture, broken bones and badly mangled joints can be found all over his maltreated skin. He is short, stocky, tends to be bald and wears only a loincloth, but his unassumingly kind face radiates warmth and comfort.
