King of Kings

The victory feast of the gods was in full swing. Laughter, singing, dancing and music filled the halls of the celestial city and wine flowed in great rivers through the streets.
In the midst of these festivities, however, Eris sat bored by the revelry and its monotony. Until Cyric came to her and confessed that he desired her and would do anything to be with her. Eris proposed a competition to win her favor. Whichever of the two could cause the most chaos to relieve her boredom would win. If Cyric won, she would fulfill his wish. However, if she won, Cyric would have to live an entire elven life as a mortal before he could become a god again. Despite the risk, Cyric agreed, but let Eris go first.    Eris created a crown and came before the brothers Bhaal, Moradin and Bain. There she simply asked who would claim this crown that should belong to the king of the gods. The celebrations stopped, as all the gods looked expectantly at the three brothers.
Bain was the first to speak, saying that the crown should be his. After all, he had contributed the most warriors against the dragons as well as the Aboleth and demons. Bhaal and Moradin, however, laughed at him and scoffed that his creations were pathetic and ugly compared to their own. The two decided that one of them should get the crown and that they would decide this by pitting their creations against each other.   While this spectacle was taking place, Cyric had secretly stolen the secrets to both the magic of the gods and the dragons and delivered them to the mortals. Eris confidently returned to Cyric to taunt him. Surely he couldn't start a war between two races as easily. But the tricksy god simply asked her to wait before determining the winner of this wager.
