Tempus
God of War (a.k.a. Lord of Battles / Foehammer)
Riding his two warhorses (Veiros, the white mare, and Deiros, the black stallion), Tempus is the prince of battles who rules and directs all wars.
Tempus' help is random, but his chaotic nature allows him to help everyone equally over time. The god of war often helps one army one day, only to support the other side the next. Soldiers and warriors of all persuasions pray to him for their luck in the coming battle. Tempus is a strong and tenacious deity, powerful and honorable in battle. He obeys only his own code of honor as a warrior and does not enter into lasting alliances. He loves food, drink and hunting, but nothing beats a battle for him. Tempus clerics pray for their spells when the sun is at its peak. Holidays of the Tempus faith are anniversaries of famous battles and wars in the area, so each region has its own holidays dedicated to Tempus.
The Moon Festival, when the dead are honored, is one of the most sacred holidays for Tempus clerics. On this day, there are usually three masses for Tempus worshippers: the Feast of Heroes at the height of the sun, the Song of the Fallen at sunset and the Song of the Sword late at night. The most common ritual of the tempus believers is the short, silent prayer over the weapon used most often or in the upcoming battle (or over the weapon that was last taken from a particularly tough opponent). Often all that can be heard is the whispered name of the god.
The March of the Dead is another annual ritual in which Tempus clerics walk through the streets to remember all those who have fallen in defense or for the glory of the area. All Tempus clerics are expected to preserve the names of the dead, maintain gravestones, etc. Tempus worshippers are expected to shed blood once every ten days, either their own or that of a worthy opponent, and perform the ritual of the Sword Chant in Tempus' honor (it is a text that is sung or spoken).
