The Combine Nexus
The Combine Nexus is a magic travel system that was established by the Ancient Combined Empire during their Golden Age. It was said that this nexus connected to other "Worlds" that the Combine controlled during their galactic golden age. The only known existing Gate on Gaia is located in the Dwarven city known as Vandress. However due to the popularity of this gate, the dwarves were quick outnumbered by Gaia's other races.
Vandress
Vandress is the Dwarven city that discovered the Nexus Gate. the gate was unearthed during an expansion into Mt. Opal. The Guild of Lore quickly took notice and negotiated a deal with the Vandress Dwarves to establish a research lab, which in itself, expanded the city. They currently study the gate and eagerly await if the gate will reactive, as the gate is still intact. The Nexus Gate
Magic has been detected to be still active in the gate, this both has intrigued and frightened the people of Gaia, not knowing where or who the gate will open to. The manuscripts that the guild has uncovered mentioned a Binary Star System, and a Location known as Rei-Val. It is unknown what this place is who they are or what they will do if reactivated. With this fear in place, the city has become a containment Military facility as well, open to the privileged academic people of Gaia. There has been several back and forths on a few things, To reactive the gate, or to simply destroy it.Nahvar-Benita's Stance
The Nation of Nahvar-Benita has supported keeping the gate intact with hopes to reactive it when they can, to explore and expand like the ancients once did. They of course have international flak and support for this idea. The Compromise was to establish a heavy military presence around the gate, to protect Gaia for otherworldly threats."What is the difference? We are always at threats with the Void, The Forgotten, and Extra-planar entities as we speak! This gate makes it no different then threats we are already aware of and can confront with unity and ease! What if we make contact, and they a re actually -friendly-?" ~Academician Zavier Hallandale, Guild of Lore
