The Garsfolde Rainforest

The Garsfolde Rainforest is a small yet dense jungle that rests on the Garsfold Peninsula on Sahandra. It is separated only by hills, which help keep the moisture from the storms that ravage the Grand Plains. With the warmer winds staying stagnant within the Keening Bay the weather of Garsfolde is almost constantly raining. In its place a sprawling jungle has sprawled and within it, some of the first signs of untamed life.
"The Garsfold Rainforest is small, but it is dense, multiple levels of forest have been reported. If only we can speak to the feline folk who call it home without getting arrows lobbed at us."
~Scholar Shing-su Nooke, Studies of Sahandra

Native Intelligent Life

Within the jungle there within resides an unnamed feline race that is tribal society, from what the Guild of Lore has discovered, there are around forty tribes within the small jungle. Contact has always been hostile with the feline folk always attacking missionaries and scouts sent to map the jungle for Consular. The Guild is optimistic one day, that they would make peaceful contact one day, but the chances of that will likely fall within the thousands of independent farms that reside in the Grand Plains.   It is said these felines resemble many of what one would expect to be a jungle dwelling cat. Leopards, being the most dominant. The only people that were able to traverse the jungle without much attention were Sasslisian Refugees who sought a better life a way from the Ruthless rule of Overlord Sakraz Sesslin. The guild has reached out to these isarians for help in the matter, however all attempts were shrugged off, possibly due to how the world perceives a sasslisian, which the guild does not help.
"There are an influx of isarians refugees that are escaping the iron rule of the Lich's kingdom. Somehow they were able to pass through the rain forest with little harassment from the feline tribes. I figure this is due to their own jungle-aptitude. "

Geography

The Jungle lays in a relatively flat area within Sahandra. Bordered by many hills that fluctuate the ecosystem in the west, the storms within the Grand Plains usually blow warm fronts into thisĀ  area, where they combine with the humidity of the Central Ocean and the Keening Bay. This phenomenon often results in near-constant stormy weather in the rain forest with few dry seasons. Due to the general area being hard to explore due to native resistance, it is unknown if any settlements have made it to survive in the fens that are within the jungle it self.

The Fens of Keening

Within the jungle, lays swampy fens that are cesspools for life. These are a rare thing to see in such a high concentration. Dubbed the Fens of Keening, these fens are often large, unexplored and often where the feline tribes are observed mingling near by of. These fens are of high interest of any biology scholars and those who wish to study the dense forest. The problem lies within contact of the native tribes, which often attack any scout party that enters the jungles.

Fauna & Flora

The trees are said to tower high as skyscrapers, and that the very surface of the jungle is in constant nightfall, leading to the existence of luminescence within the local flora and sometimes fauna. The rain forest is covered in dense towering tropical trees that often do block out the sunlight from hitting the floor. This leads to the idea that the forest has three levels of life, Floor, Tangle, and Canopy.   The Floor is where there is very little light, and things resemble life found in the deepest caves. Flora has been reported to glow with luminescence as well as some of the small wild life. The tangle is where most of the life is seen, within the br anches and shroud of the leaves, sunlight filters through much lieka forest, yet this effect is year-round and most basic life calls this their home, even the native felines who are said to have built villages within the tree greens. Above this is the canopy, where the sun and rain always hit the trees, giving them their growth. Not much life lives up here, save for a few birds, but this canopy also blocks any view from above, including that of satellites.
