The Infinity towers of Gaia are relics of the past. There are a few of the towers that remain upright on Gaia's surface. There are also some that have since toppled miles across their respected landscapes. These towers are mega-structures, technology of the Combined Empire, they were in fact a system of space elevators that once connected to a massive Nexus that orbited the planet.
This was known as a Atmospheric Penrose. The rumors say this structure was built like rings around the planet in certain spots. History has since declared these theorized structures lost, as they appear to have crashed back onto Gaia around 100,000 years ago. A System of Infinity towers were the Combined Empire's access points to this giga structure. The Guild of Lore however has yet to find existence of this Atmospheric Penrose. Speculation is that it could have drifted into space, or broke apart with Gaia's orbit. Any records of this mytholgocial feature would be found possibly in the UnderFoot, as Gaia reclaimed the artificial constructs left behind as Gaia regrew from the fall of the Combine.
The Fate of the Ruins
As these structures are scattered about Gaia, the most lawless of regions have them claimed by strong creatures or individuals. There are also a few that reside in civilized nations that have since marked them as landmarks or outright closed access to them. The Adventurers' guild does hire people for the Guild of Lores to seek anything of value in these towers, however they are only for the strongest and most capable of folk who seek adventure. A Rank A adventurer and up are recommended to enter these areas, and they usually desire large groups of them to explore these ruins.
The Towers are so big that it could take months to scout them. This being the case; a contract would only last a day or two, before recalling the folk back to the Guild to avoid harm and loss of life. The infinity Towers are amongst the highest rated Adventurer Guild regions to adventure in. Sometimes massive discoveries are found in these towers that great change the understanding of the Combined Empire. Multiple trips are usually undertaken to get the most out of a tower.
Claimed Towers
Being amongst the largest of old ruins these places attract anything from monsters, to Dragons, to roving bands and organizations to claim a tower. It is unknown who claims a tower unless they proudly broadcast it. The biggest example is the "Infinity Tower" within the Zenthia Iksamas on Sahandra.
The Zenthian Infinity Tower
This is the most famous of all Infinity towers. In fact the ruin type was named after the very name of this structure. The Iksamas Desert is a very dangerous and lawless place. The native Zenthian populations rove the wastelands in warbands, often fighting each other, other parties and even adventurers whom are in their jobs. They are extremely dangerous.
The most famous Warband known as the Lotus Warband occupy the original Infinity Tower. It seems the warbands often fight to claim this structure, and who ever holds it, presents it as a badge of honor and pride. The Guild was not able to ever get into this place, which makes it the most dangerous of all Infinity Tower Excursions.
