Central Heartlands

The Central Heartlands are the central regions of the Orenian continent.   Untouched by draconic civilization, the heartlands instead served as the cradle for the mortal races when elvenkind first set foot on Gailardia. While elvenkind has since ventured beyond their borders, the high elves that rule to this day maintain the bloodlines that once lead the first of elvenkind towards the future. Often have its lands suffered the ravages of war but high elven society has continued to stand firm on its ancestral home and now serves as a central hub for all of Gailardia's people.

Nations and Factions

  • Rei'Crest - Great seat of arcane knowledge and home of the high elves. Savoring an era of prosperity, many of its leaders seek to expand their reach on both this and other planes.
  • Guild Alliance - Once a mere gathering of artisans, now a vast conglomerate of guilds. Their combined power vast, some have sought to claim new lands beyond the northern seas.
  • Firstborn - Loyalists of House Crestborn widely known for their vast connections in high places. Since the rise of the current High Elder, they've pushed hard for Rei'Crest to support their lord.
  • Order of the Morning Sun - A highly prestigious order of powerful mages with strong loyalties towards House Dawnspire. Rumor has it they orchestrated several incidents involving dark magic.
  • Windriders - Wandering company of mercenaries spread across several bands advocating personal freedom. Often showing their support for House Valewalker, they're always present in Galderon.
  • Shadowfang Society - The underworld of Rei'Crest lurking in the dark alleys of its major cities. While often home to the worst of criminals, so too does it house angels of death serving the good of all.
  • Venture's Reach - Large guild aiming to defend the small tribes and clans of wildkin and gnomes across the Heartlands, fighting for their right to live freely within the borders of Rei'Crest.
  • Illustrious Phantoms - Revered band of artists and performers made up of commoners with a love for spreading joy and love, but often said to secretly build support for some of the smaller Houses.
  • Order of the Broken Skull - A cult of mages studying dark magic, said to have existed for millennia. Accused of several disastrous rituals, no known activities have been heard of for years.

Major Settlements

  • Lhyra - Radiant heart of the high elves, a beacon the ambitious souls seeking to master their skills.
  • Gilem'Kar - Center of guild society across Gailardia and home to the main headquarters of the Guild Alliance.
  • Khota - The fortress city guarding the great bridge across the Bleeding Canyon, connecting Rei'Crest to Dakhana.
  • Crest - Mighty fortress city governed by House Crestborn, housing much of Rei'Crest's military power.
  • Harreth - Vast city of trade along the western shores, its ships often bringing in goods from the neighboring nations.
  • Varlenn - The fortress city overseeing the great wall surrounding the desolate wastes of the Rift Valley.
  • Zhandohr - Home to vast academies and arcane research, governed by the House named after its great peak.
  • Galderon - Central hub for adventurers and thrillseekers, home to the colosseum and governed by House Valewalker.

Notable Locations

  • Alliance Heights - Main territory of the Guild Alliance bought from the Crestal government. A major hub for trade, its borders often houses people from all around the world.
  • Symphony Lake - A large and tranquil lake, its waters said to fill the hearts of good people with beautiful music. The wicked only hear the cries of monsters from the Bleeding Canyon.
  • Lightstone Mines - Vast mining network in the mountains bordering Dakhana where a ley line was once excavated and brought ruin to the tunnels, bathing the walls in crystals.
  • Ruby Forest - Dense woodlands deemed sacred and off limits due to the constant growth of mana crystals from its trees, regularly harvested for the sake of arcane development.
  • Grim Hollow - Dark woods said to have been cursed in ages past, now the home of both demonic and undead monstrosities. Tales of riches deep within have lead many to their deaths.
  • Dawnspire - The solitary peak worshipped as a gateway to the heavenly realms of the deities. While such theories have since been discredited, it remains a holy site for many high elves.
  • Rift Valley - Carved by the ravages of dark rituals, this cursed valley is ever under watch as hoards of demonic creatures tear through from the Nether.
