Round 1
- Celestial Cameo: The observatory sky switches to the view of a star, just as it emits a solar flare that briefly crashes into the room. The Boy, Draconius, Stonius, Fork & Balcazar succeed, while Rexy, the Girl & Master Obu failed. The lucky take 8 fire damage (except Fork, takes none cuz Evasion), while the failures take 17.
- Draconius: Twinfire for 37 fire damage to Moonfather, uses Reaction to Plasma Catch (2nd level slot) and burns away the illusion. The Moonfather uses a Legendary Action to cast Daidrosense. He gains blindsense & tremorsense, removing their advantage from the smoke illusion.
- Balcazar: Fires Madrakor’s Gauntlet for a 7 damage titty twister, then Blight for 46 necrotic damage (53 total). The Moonfather uses two Legendary Actions (no more until after his upcoming turn) to trigger a lair action. He switches the room entirely, placing the fight in the Fractal Generator Tower.
- The Boy: Together with Draconius, casts Soul Recall to summon Stonius’ soul. Stonius uses his Acid Breath for 19 damage.
- The Girl: Casts Cone of Cold against her father for 47 cold damage.
- The Moonfather: Casts Fractal Rain [8th-level spell, experimental/unfinalized effects] for 40 damage on everyone except Fork.
- Fork: Stealths, fails, jumps up and Shock Therapy’s the Moonfather for 34 lightning & 11 psychic. The Moonfather casts Moon Heal [3rd level spell, 2 Legendary Actions] and restores 55 HP to himself.
- Master Obu & Rexy: Rexy bites him for 28 piercing, then casts Shock Therapy for 16 lightning & 14 psychic (30 total). The Moonfather Moon Walks [1 Legendary Action] away, but not before 9 bludgeoning damage from Obu
Round 2
- Celestial Cameo: The fractal sky switches to a soaring comet, which radiates a windy shockwave of cold mist from its path. Con save, 9 for lucky, 18 & frozen for failures. Failures: Stonius, Obu, Balcazar. Winners: Fork, Draconius, Rexy, the Boy & the Girl. The Girl and Rexy only take 4 cold damage, the rest of the winners take 9, and the failures take 18 and are frozen.
- Balcazar: Breaks free of his icy prison with his Action. Bonus Actions a Madrakor’s Gauntlet a titty twister to the other nipple for 6 damage.
- Draconius & Stonius: Double attacks with scythe, nearly killing the Moonfather with 32 damage. Action Surges for more swings, but misses. Stonius breaks free of his ice.
- The Boy & Girl, while emboldened, remember the pain of Father’s power and do not fight for a moment.
- The Moonfather: Frustrated, the Moonfather casts Moon Heal as a Bonus Action (spent 2 or 3 sorcery points to use Quickened Spell) to regain 52 HP (full moon in the fractal sky), then casts Meteor Swarm (9th level spell) across the entire field. Fractals in the sky form into meteors and fling to the surface. 152 damage to all failures, 76 to the lucky. Winners: Draconius, Stonius, Fork (takes no damage cuz Evasion) Failures: Master Obu, The Boy, The Girl, Balcazar & Rexy. The tide of the fight is turned; Master Obu, Balcazar, Rexy & the Twins permanently fall before the might of Meteor Swarm. Draconius fall unconscious, and the soul of Stonius dispels, returning to the Underworld. Tavern King Fork is all that stands against the powerful Moonfather, with his nimble monkness being the only thing keeping him alive.
- Tavern King Fork: Launches a Javelin Bolt (4th level Goultani spell) for 50 total damage, dealing severe damage to the Moonfather. Or at least, it would have if he didn’t cast Space Fake (4th level Daidrin spell) and evading it. The Moonfather returns the favor with 2 Legendary Actions and casts Dark Lightning (3rd level Daidrin spell), which Fork avoids (but not Draconius, who takes a Death Fail). However, Draconius succeeds on a Death Success roll.
Round 3
- Celestial Cameo: In the fractal sky, a black hole forms, ready to suck in everything in the room. Fork resists and only takes 10 force damage, but watches the crushed bodies of his teammates sucked into the event horizon.
- The Moonfather: Casts Life Swap (7th level Daidrin spell, might need to make it 8th or 9th) and switches his HP to 190. As a Bonus Action, he converts sorcery points into another 3rd level spell slot, ready to play with his new captive.
- Tavern King Fork: Fueled with drunken fury, Fork casts Starsight (3rd level, 3 ki points) and crits it for 78 radiant damage on the Moonfather. He attempts to Plasma Catch as his reaction, reducing it by 13 but still taking the net 65 to the chest. After this turn, the Moonfather casts Dead Line (6th-level spell, 3 Legendary Actions) on Fork, saying “perhaps you can see your recently deceased friends soon.” This deals 74 necrotic damage, which ends the reign of the Tavern King as his soul is ripped from his body by the Denowraiths.
Aftermath
- Despite the TPK, the Moonfather still found the encounter interesting, as it almost killed him. He heads to the Undercellar and uses its dark energy to cast multiple Soul Recalls (converting remaining sorcery points to 6th-level spell slots). He recalls the souls of Draconius & Fork, curious about their Gaioforce nature, but is strangely unable to claim Balcazar or Master Obu. Regardless, he traps them in Soul Gems. He places these in the arcane laboratory portion of the Undercellar, setting them aside for his future work.
- Meanwhile, Balcazar & Master Obu come to as souls in their own Soul Gems, unaware of where they are. They look up from their limited perspective and see the thing they both feared; the evil smile of a Lamarva-esque Draconic humanoid standing in front of them. As Balcazar’s big brain puts the truth together, Darkjaw prepares to doll out a lifetime of torture to his former allies.
