Daidrin Aura (Day-drin)

The Daidrin Aura is one of the Five Auras of the Gaioforce. Daidrin is the magical domain of dark energy, the mysterious cosmic component that expands the unvierse and inflicts alien & fundamentally oppositive effects on the known world. The aura is shadowy black in color, due to the absence of light. Dark energy is thought to be sourced from space itself, only present on Gaion through the original asteroid impact of the Daidrin Gaiostone and subsequent cosmic debris crashes. The Daidrin Gaiostone represents the alien properties of its aura, being an increasingly powerful and unstable object. It constantly emits shadowly dark energy and distorts matter & energy around it. The area it resides is devoid of life and sound, other than the reverse-drip sound of the shadows billowing off of the stone. Any objects designed to contain the Gaiostone are infected by its dark, shadowy veins. It randomly causes localized singularities and other spatial effects, and is said to drain the life from any organic being that touches it.  

Common Branches of Daidrin Study

Cold Energy

  Daidrin users hailing from the northern tundras of Cyregnor are well-versed in cold magic. As heat is a natural occurrence of pure energy, cold is a natural occurrence of pure dark energy. Users of cold magic are naturally fueled by cold environments and absence of major heat sources, giving them a natural paradise in Cyregnor. Frost Elves & their Moon Elf ancestors practice cold magic.  

Aether

  As the universe continues to naturally expand, the presence of dark energy in its vast vacuums connects Daidrin users to its power. Daidrin can manipulate this dark energy to control vacuums, manipulate local & non-local spatial energy fields (such as gravity & telekinesis), manipulate ethereal energies (souls, the Ethereal Plane, Astral Fog), and create doorways between different points in space. Moon Elves were best versed in this magic, but over the years, Frost Elves have mastered this power as well.  

Necromancy

  While life is a unique and powerful form of energy, death serves as its cosmic, dark energy counterpart. However, given that the magical domains of Life & Death were previously controlled by Aurovi and Denothis, respectively, the power over death magic has been decentralized. Access to this power outside of the Daidrin Aura is discussed in other articles. However, undead Daidrin such as vampires & wights has shown strong domain over this power.

RPG Features

Gaioforce Spellcasting

  • Access to the Daidrin Aura of the Gaioforce allows the user access to its magical powers, subject to the spellcasting rules of their respective class/Gaioforce subclass.
  • Garonis Damage Types: force, cold, necrotic
  • Any full-caster class (wizard, sorcerer, warlock, bard, druid & cleric) can add their spellcasting ability modifier to Gaioforce spell damage & healing rolls
  • Half-caster classes that do not ordinarily have spell lists (monk, fighter, rogue, barbarian) only get access to their Gaioforce spell list when choosing spells.
  • Gaioforce spells do not require Verbal components. Depending on the spell, Gaioforce spells may require material components if they involve the use of matter, antimatter, dark matter, etc, which could be pulled from the environment if it is present. In rare cases, a spell requiring air, fire or another form of energy may not work in certain environments, such as underwater or in the vacuum of space.
  • 5e spells listed under each aura-specific spell list can use the same Material components as they would use for similar Gaioforce spells. In other words, the Gaioforce satisfies the caster's material spell components when they don't have a monetary cost, so long as the spell they are casting is on their Gaioforce Spell List.
