KoA Finale: The Inevitable End
Original Concepts
1. Tired of their meddling, a high ranking Goultani Wizard leads her experimental supersoldier unit (including ARTA-5) to wipe out the Knights of Anarchy. Morgoth & Bruknuk die fighting, the Dealer dips out and abandons the cause, and Dr. Nizbon/Vesuvia escape via portal. In this battle, the Grettanian Empire is successful at disbanding the threat, and continues on with their operations. 2. Vesuvia’s character will serve as a personal growth arc for myself, as her societal rage drives her to blindly kill cops & authority figures. I plan to evolve her story to a point where she either dies in this conquest, or learns to apply her powers towards constructive change 3. Dr. Nizbon does not have a character arc planned currently, but is tamer than Vesuvia in his desire to kill authority figures. He is more the “fuck off 5, lemme do my thing” kind of character, which serves Season 1 well. This development is what makes him a competing death send-off in the Season 1 finale, tied with NyrusOpening

Round 1
- Vesuvia: Casts Twinfire (5th level) at the troop units at the center, noting that they are more spaced out than usual but still hitting the Goultaknight with both. Deals 30 fire with one and 32 fire with the other; uses Quickened Spell (2 sorcery points) to cast Infernal Buzzsaw (4th level) at the same guys for 46 fire damage; Goultaknight takes it first and is split in two, big guys in the middle take 41 & 36, guy on left takes 31 & guy on right takes 26.The rest hits the Supersoldiers on the right (21, 16/8 cuz he resisted), the Goultaknight ( 11), the last two take 6 & 1 damage.
- Imperial WarMages: Both cast Twinfire (5th) on the group while casting Flame Curse as a Bonus Action(2nd level the one at Vesuvia and Bruknuk deals 46 fire + 11 flame curse (28 to both), the one at Morgoth does 36 fire + 9, The Dealer completely evades his and Nizbon takes 31 + 7.
- Dr. Nizbon: Flies over the right flank and casts Barrel Bolt (3rd level) from above, twirling majestically in the sky as lightning careened off his Rock Gnomeling body. However, his spell is suddenly disrupted before true release, having been Counterspelled (3rd level) by one of the warmages. However, Dr. Nizbon now lies hovering above the men, hungry for their snack. Seeing this, he drops a Flashbang (1st spell, Bonus Action but probably won't be after this) on the boys; one Supersoldier is blinded and takes 10 radiant damage, while the other one and the Goultaknight avert their gaze and take 5 radiant damage.
- The Dealer: Runs up and tosses a Poker Chip at the right flank Goultaknight, but he parries it off his sword. The Dealer dashes back
- The Prisoners: Run forward, charging into the fray with Grettanian Guard weapons & armor
- Bruknuk: Frenzy rages, charges up and starts pummeling a supersoldier for 15 bludgeoning damage. Surprisingly to his comrades, the supersoldier falls. Bruknuk gives his last frenzied punch towards new guy and hits him in the face, dealing 15 bludgeoning to him.
- Imperial Goultaknights: Looks at the cowardly Dealer with disgust and looks back to Nizbon. He points his sword and casts Gamma Flame (2nd level), dealing 14 radiant/14 fire damage and irradiating his part of the sky. Pleased, the knight instructs his men to finish him off, but try not to damage the armor. He then advances. The other knight runs up to the group and casts Heat Wave (3rd level) as a swing of his sword. Morgoth, Vesuvia & the Dealer take 9, 4, and none. Orders his team to advance.
- Morgoth: Engages the Goultaknight and casts Blinding Smite (3rd level, Bonus Action) while swinging Elephant's Wrath for 10 slashing/21 radiant, but the knight is not blinded.
- Imperial Supersoldiers: The center team swarms Morgoth and attack; one guy hits 2/3 strikes and deals 17 slashing, another deals 19, and the last deals 12 (extra 20 from all of them because martial advantage). The rght flank follow their orders and leap into the air at Nizbon, who was flying about 20 ft up. Each is attacking with their glaives and pikes, except for the blind guy. The other three hit for 30 something damage and drop the gnome. They get ready to kill them, but the Goultaknight tells the blind one to bind him and get him back to the warmage so they can imprison him in the airship. The blind guy feels his power within and relieves his blindness, running over to the warmage with their prize, while the others advance. The left flank charges up.
- Warship: The warship opens fire and decimates half of the prisoners.
Round 2
- Vesuvia: Seeing Nizbon get carried off, Vesuvia casts Twinfire (5th) again, which the other warmage futily attempts to Counterspell (3rd level) against her passion. 40 fire damage for the first and 23 fire damage. With Quickened Spell (2 sorcery points), she casts Chain Lightning (6th level) at the formerly blind supersoldier & the warmage, along with the warship. Spends another sorcery point to Empowered Spell the bolts, dealing 45 lightning to the supersoldier, warmage & warship. This fries the shit out of the mage and kills her, leaving the supersoldier to stand guard over Nizbon. Realizing that her best bet is to stay away from the charging soldiers, so she moves back towards the Dealer.
- Imperial Warmage: Runs up and fires a Javelin Bolt (4th level) at Vesuvia, which deals 10 piercing damage. It then erupts with 17 lightning damage, which drops Vesuvia but misses the Dealer entirely. Casts Photosynthesis for 1 temp HP and advantage on Strength, Dex & Con
- Dr. Nizbon: Succeeds on his first death save
- The Dealer: Gives Vesuvia their last health potion (greater healing) for 16 HP, then tosses a Magic Card at the right Goultaknight. 42 fire damage, the knight and his immediate flanks die. The Dealer then moves farther away.
- The Prisoners: Run up more, having nothing left to lose.
- Bruknuk: Brings out his axe and swings wildly, Reckless Attack. All hit, dealing 17, 18, & 17. This drops two guys, removing their heads in a clean strike around. The third guy is barely holding on, but won't back down.
- Imperial Goultaknight: Attacks Morgoth while commanding the lone supersoldier to advance on Bruknuk. Casts Sun Strike (2nd level) while swinging with advantage, dealing 19 damage to Morgoth. Morgoth Hellish Rebukes (4th level) this insult for 29 fire damage, killing the foolish knight on his last turn
- Morgoth: Takes vengeance upon the failures of their commander by unleashing on the supersoldiers, starting with the weakened one. Casts Magic Weapon (2nd level) to grant +1 to Elephant's Wrath and swings twice, blowing a 3rd level Divine Smite, dealing 14 slashing/23 radiant (37), then crits him and splits his head in two. Roars triumphantly with an elephant's might.
- Imperial Supersoldiers: Morgoth's opponents unleash their supersoldieric rage and kill Morgoth; not downed, killed on the ground. The supersoldier with Dr. Nizbon charges over to the warmage, who prepares to teleport back into the warship. The others charge and attack Bruknuk ruthlessly, bringing him closer to death's door than he's been since he was captured.
- Warship: Decimates the remaining prisoners while Vesuvia Shields/the Dealer narrowly dodges, taking 10 damage.
Round 3
- Vesuvia: Runs closer to Nizbon, casts Misty Step (2nd spell, prepared via Arcane Intellectual) to get closer but is Counterspelled by the warmage from doing so. Seeing how this is going, Vesuvia has a choice to make; Dimension Door (4th level, 2 sorcery points) to Nizbon, cast another spell to kill the mage & supersoldier holding him while risking death from the other supersoldiers, or teleport away. She decides that if this is her last great act of defiance, it will be done with violence; she casts Infernal Buzzsaw (4th level, 2 sorcery points) at her targets for 41 fire; both fail and take 41 & 36, killing both of them. She launches the remaining buzzsaw through the supersoldiers close to Bruknuk (31, 26 & 21, killing the last guy), spitting at the ones near her.
- Imperial WarMage: dead
- Dr. Nizbon: Succeeds on his second death save.
- The Dealer: Seeing the writing on the wall, the Dealer runs over to the freed Nizbon and casts Misty Step to get closer. Then, with a hat trick, he tosses it and expends two charges to teleport Nizbon away from here, with the hat spinning back to his hand afterwords with one charge left.
- The Prisoners: slaughtered, hope is dead
- Bruknuk: Reckless Attacks with more rage than ever; crits the first guy and straight up ends him in a bloody burst of balloon popping. Brings the momentum over to the other guy for 19 damage. Swings once more to kill him, then runs over to stand between Vesuvia and the two remaining supersoldiers.
- Imperial Goultaknight: dead
- Morgoth: dead
- Imperial Supersoldiers: Attack Morgoth, itching to get to Vesuvia. One of them kills the valiantly defendent Morgoth, earning a mourning cry from Vesuvia. The other, ready to complete the job, runs up to kill Vesuvia. With the first strike setting in, the supersoldier takes too much delight in brutally tearing apart the mage, leaving her in bloody pieces on the ground.
- Warship: Fires all weapons at the Dealer, dealing 15 damage to him after finally landing a shot.
Round 4
- Vesuvia: dead
- Imperial Warmage: dead
- Dr. Nizbon: succeeds on his third death save, regaining consciousness in an unfamiliar area.
- The Dealer: Looks around at his dead teammates, the Dealer does a dance with his cane, tosses 3 cards at once towards the remaining supersoldiers, then uses his last hat charge to Teleport to Necropolis. Each soldier gets hit with a necrotic curse that sentences them to die in 18 seconds, then get blown away by a thunder card. An insulting last few seconds of life, leaving the Knights of Anarchy to (technically) win the day with heavy casualties.
Aftermath
Having overseen the battle from the airship, the Imperial Archmage is disappointed at the loss of the supersoldier unit, but impressed with their results in combat and for having destroyed the Knights of Anarchy. While mildly irritated at the Dealer & Dr. Nizbon's escapes, she knows both of them well enough from their intelligent reports that they would no longer act as a unified threat, but would rather melt back into the shadows and avoid trouble. She reports the victory back to Garen, who excitedly orders more supersoldiers and greenlights Project Powerveins for mass military usage.Epilogue
After the warship leaves, Morgoth's corpse rises. Pronoxus, pleased with his work of spreading violent chaos throughout Grettania, resurrects Morgoth as a Death Knight to serve as his champion. He walks north, intent on carrying out Pronoxus' future plans. The Dealer continues to play his games throughout Cyregnor & wherever, while Dr. Nizbon eventually reunites with the Gaiobros after their loss against Garen.Remove these ads.
