Part 1: My Hypothesis
I have pushed the boundaries of my magicks of the void. I have strengthened my arcane understanding of necromancy & the cold. My master ensured it to be so. But my master left so much more to be discovered, and as he wanders the cosmos, I will pioneer this myself. To push the boundaries of death and cold, I need more than my amazing knowledge and arcane mastery. I need subjects for these tests. Powerful, living subjects. Conveniently, a Frost Elf I ocassionally bed recently gave birth to twins. Even in my first moments with them, I could feel their pull of the Daidrin Gaioforce on my presence. With my pure elven bloodline, I know they will be the perfect subjects. If successful, they may even be the perfect beings.
Part 2: The Acquisition
Despite being offspring of perfect parentage, the twins' young bodies remained fragile against the unpredictable Gaioforce power within them. Thus, I allowed the woman to grow & care for the subjects until they were ready for experimentation. After 5 years with mild appearances from me to gauge their dark energy levels, I deemed them to finally be ready. Acquisition took more efforts than anticipated.
I took the subjects to my laboratory on the 3rd morning of [March equivalent, still working on calendar], 463 AD. I was setting them up on their lab tables when their mother walked in and saw their quarters. She did not use to have access to my castle, but after some work with some cultists, she blew a hole into my demiplane. Something about ensuring she could reach me to support her kids. Rude. Either way, she was enraged, yelled at me for what felt like hours and tried several times to take the subjects. I was annoyed, but I didn't feel like killing that day. So instead, I banished her from the demiplane, sealing the gateway so that she could never return. The subjects watched on, as it seemed she reached out to them one more time before my work was done, never to be seen again by myself or the twins.
Part 3: The Girl
The girl showed immense prowess during her session. As I trained her in the magicks of cold energy, I slowly introduced her body to the dark energies I captured from Nohr's blizzards in her layer of Darthalheim. Over time, her skills sharpened and her powers grew. Her skin, originally a frosty grey like her mother & myself, turned light blue and shimmered. This power continued to grow for the 3 year trials, at which point I concluded her training. Social development during this period was disregarded for scientific development.
Part 4: The Boy
The boy was not as effective as his sister. He took far longer to learn the ways of Daidrin Necromancy than his sister did Cold Sorcery. He got distracted constantly during our sessions, and seemed more eager to play with the undead practice subjects rather than understanding the magic behind them. Since he was not as proficient as his sister, I started treating him with light rays of necrotic energy every night. His body seemed to take, but over time his frosty grey skin grew greyer and gaunter. His necromancy skills improved, but never to his sister's degree. Finally, I strapped him down to the test bed and infused him with pure necrotic energy from the dark skies of the Underworld. As thus began my greatest disappointment of these experiments. The boy writhed and squirmed as the dark energy infected his veins and corrupted his flesh, screaming the whole time. His shrieks distorted into those of soul remnants trapped in the Underworld's skies. Eventually, the boy spit up some black bile and slumped to the test table, lifeless. At first, I thought I failed. All this time, the resources, this can't be all that's left. Desperate, I sought a way to revive the subject, but I knew that simply reviving it and trying again would be pointless; it has already proven a failure at accepting the dark energies necessary. I had to think of something else, but not before I warped into the Ethereal Plane and retrieved his soul before the Denowraiths could get to it. At this point, the girl came into the lab, despite my insistence several times that she not interfere with my work. However, as I saw her shock turn to grief and the frozen tears fall from her face, I had an idea.
I first allowed the girl to cry all her tears out for her brother, collecting them all for my work. Once she was silent, I told her that we can bring him back, but she will have to leave. The girl lashed out at me, launching a blast of ice that froze part of my lab and grazed my left side. I dealt with her efficiently so that I could continue my work, then teleported her unconcsious self to her room. Then, the ritual began. I used her tears, which represented the love she held to this boy, as the components for the Soul Tether portion. I summoned a zombie so that I could crush it beneath my telekinetic grip, using its blood for the Create Willing/Unwilling Undead portion. I hovered the Soul Gem above the boys body, then whirled the tears and zombie blood into a single stream whilst infusing it with Dark Lightning. With all three spells combined into the Soul Gem, I thrust the output into the boy's chest, disintegrating the crystal shard and infusing the boy with the enormous spell. When the shadows cleared, the boy's eyes flickered open, showing no signs of life, yet still moving on their own. I watched as the boy got up from the table, hunched over, and looked at me with an unchanging expression. Had my efforts worked, or did they come with a price?
Part 5: Results & Conclusion
Overall, the efforts of my experiments yielded decently fruitful results. The girl is now a young prodigy of Cold Sorcery, and the boy is a pure entity of Necromancy. After the twins reunited, I instructed the girl to watch over her brother, as their fates are now tied as one. I then gave them full reign of my castle and demiplane, only instructing them not to leave the plane and not to enter my laboratories. I occasionally check to make sure the twins are still alive, but my extrasensory powers allow me to sense them just as well, so what need is there for physical interaction? Apparently, the woman struck back out of some devotion to her kids, killing herself and several others to blow a permanent hole into my demiplane. Ironic, as her everlasting love seems to be the ingredient holding that portal open, just as the girl's love is the ingredient keeping the boy's soul tethered to his necrotic body. Either way, further efforts to close the portal are unnecessary. Now that I've learned what I needed from the twins, they are welcome to wander wherever they desire.
