Helios

Helios is the star that the planets Aurora and Hyperion orbit. Highly unstable, its constant magnetic storms light up the atmospheres of both planets in a dazzling display that can be seen from space.   The Helios system is treated with special care by the rest of the galaxy, as only specially designed ships can enter the system without significant damage to their electronics and computers. The artificial singularity leading to the Epsilon Eridani Hub lies just outside the system, making it a five hour voyage to reach from Aurora by special conventional rockets.   Helios is relatively close to Earth, and was one of the first choices for colonization in the days before artificial singularities took over travel from stasis ships.
