Treaty of Skolia

The Treaty of Skolia is a treaty that was written and signed by the countries of Oflij, North Skolia, and South Skolia in Judera after the end of the Skolian War of Succession. It was responsible for the creation of the countries of North and South Skolia, which were the result of the long civil war in the former kingdom of Skolia.

Purpose

The Treaty of Skolia aimed to make satisfactory arrangements for all involved parties to end the Skolian War of Succession without risk of another war in the near future.

Document Structure

Clauses

The stipulations of the treaty were as follows:
  • Skolia was to be divided into two new kingdoms with the border running east to west at the southernmost banks of the Emerald River and across the Eastern Plains.
  • The new kingdoms would be named North and South Skolia to avoid confusion with naming.
  • North Skolia would be led by Dietrich Mossforge and South SKolis by Raina Mossforge.
  • Each leader would be free to determine how their kingdom would be run, including how its government was structured.
  • Both North and South Skolia were required to send twenty-five percent of their kingdom's income and production to Oflij for eleven years, the same length as the war itself, as payment for the disturbance.

Caveats

  • An armistice would be established for one century following the signing of the document to prevent further war between the rival siblings.
  • Oflij would not be allowed to interfere in Skolian politics for the duration of the armistice so long as each kingdom kept to its borders.
  • Oflij could not ask for additional payment beyond the twenty-five percent or after the eleven years were up.

Publication Status

The Treaty of Skolia is currently on display in the Museum of Skolian History in the city of Starhaven, where it is part of a permanent exhibit on the War alongside other relics such as the Crown of Skolia.
