Gal'aeda

Created by

This is the Sixth Cycle of Gal'aeda, the Plane Between All Planes. Governed by magic and science and that which is between them, Gal'aeda influences and is influenced by five other planes in turn. The delicate balance of power between the six planes is crucial to maintain in order for the universe to continue existing in its current form. Because the Prime Material Plane is the nexus of this web, denizens of all the other planes maintain a presence there.   The story we weave together takes place on a small world that happens to sit exactly in the center of the Prime Material Plane. This planet is also named Gal'aeda; which was named first is up for debate by metaphysical scholars, but ultimately matters little in the grand scheme of things. Mortals on Gal'aeda have discovered the existence of the other planes, though their knowledge of those beyond their immediate mirrors, Elphyme and Nydavell, is limited. Despite this, some of their societies have made incredible strides towards achieving more advanced understanding of their universe, including the possibilities of interplanar travel.   Three main continents make up the surface of Gal'aeda: Esparad, Tileigan, and Velit. All three are inhabitable, but the largest and most populated is Esparad. The western half of Esparad is riddled with fey crossings into Elphyme. The eastern half has a greater number of shadow crossings into Nydavell. The southern continent, Tileigan, is a harsh stretch of land that discourages settlement, but the raw magic that infuses its most inhospitable reaches is a draw that some have not been able to resist. Velit, to the far west of Esparad, is constantly caught between the warring armies of the Great Deep and the Light Beyond.   Throughout Gal'aeda are planar crossroads of sorts; if attuned to such things, a creature can travel throughout the cosmos with ease if it begins in the right place. Great care must be taken not to ride the ley line too far; outside the reaches of the Planar Web lies a boundless void, whence lie the dead worlds and gods of the past Cycles. Once something has entered the Realm of All Things, it can never return.
