Ruffleroot

A strange pink plant that looks like the ruffle of a ladies dress that can be found deep in the Feral Wyld.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ruffleroot is pink in tone and softer than it looks. It grows thin and long snaking around other plants and has a ruffle along the edge of it like the ruffled fabric at the base of a dress.

Genetics and Reproduction

When Ruffleroot is disturbed it dissolves into a cloud of spores that floats to near by plants, animals or other surfaces. Once settled it will begin to regrow on any plants, dirt or animal it was transferred to.

Growth Rate & Stages

The regrowth process of the Ruffleroot can take up to 5 days to see though it begins after only 24 hours of settling.

Ecology and Habitats

Ruffleroot tends to grow in warm, dry, dark climates. It can be found curled around the trunk of trees or veining through the roofs of cavern in desert climates. It does not hang or grow on its own, but grows along other surfaces like veins. It is a nondestructive species simply content to exist but is also not a helpful species as it doesn't produce enough of anything to contribute in life or death. It grows only as big as its host will allow so it does not over take or cover what it has settled upon.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ruffleroot feeds off of nutrients in the air around it. Particles and bugs and dead leaves anything that could catch or land on the ruffles along its edge will absorbed slowly and thoroughly. Ruffleroot is also known to grow in climates where there are no winds like caves. There the plant will absorb nurtients from any moister in the walls or minerals from the rocks.

Biological Cycle

The Ruffleroot is effected very little by the passage of time. it is immortal as far as any researcher can tell. Though it is effected by the changing of seasons when above ground, especially stronger winds or harsh rain storms. Given its fragile nature strong winds can rip it from its host and rains could wash it away causing it to find a new place to settle.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Some creatures in the Feral Wyld have found that if a bit is gathered and baked over the fire it becomes a harder substance that can be used to draw on a surface like chalk. Some have also gathered it into loosely tied bags and use them as rudimentary smoke bombs.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Found most commonly in the Dremith dominate section of the Feral Wyld though sighting have been reported in bordering countries.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

This species is reliant on others to reproduce and find lodging. it grows on other plants stationary surfaces relying on them to grow so it to can grow and reach farther to gather more nutrients off the winds and surfaces it attaches to.

Common Myths and Legends

Some say that if you paint your face with the chalk like substabce that it will reverse the effects of aging and make your skin silky and pale.

This species is under the blanket protection of the Feral Wyld.
