Dragons fought amungst themselves creating terible distruction and successfully wiping themselves out.
Chromatic dragons decided they wanted to become more powerfull but they needed the essence of other powerful creatures to become powerful enough to create rifts and pull their echos through. This started a war between the dragon races and rift were torn across the world. the few dragons that survived this war took up the war against the creatures comming through the many rifts.
