Herb-gatherer

Being a herb-gatherer is a demanding job, that will take one to the most far away places, back and across the whole known world and beyond. How does the local healer access the most rare and potent plants, when they do not have time to be roaming the forests of the world in search for plants, while also healing their local villagers. The answer is of course the professional herb-gatherers, wanderers of the land, who travel anywhere in search for plants. Of course, the further the travel, the higher the price, but if you have the money to pay...
They will cross the ocean to Tamar, and venture into the forests of the shadow lion on search for witch's tongue, or brave the Drgon Island, in order to obtain some dragonclaw, which, despite it's name, is really a plant. They will talk beautifully to the merchant, who has what they need but wants a price too high, to bring the price down. And yes, then there is the gold that is to be made, if one has rare plants to sell, even in small quantities. For one does not need to carry a lot, even the smallest amount can cost a fortune.
The job of a wanderer and a herb-gatherer is a lonely one, but for someone who loves nature, animals and plants, and is naturally curious about the world near and far, and wants to meet people from different places, it is a job well suited. Someone who has done herb-gathering for a long time will likely know many languages, and be able to name most herbs, flowers, fungi, trees and bushes that they will encounter. They will also likely know about different animals and be particularly sensitive to different cultures and customs.
If one asks, they will probably tell many stories of their travels, as they probably have seen more than most people. Sometimes this profession is chosen by people who do not neatly fit in the societal norms, who are disabled or who do not want to follow the path that is expected from them.
