Mountains of the Wolves

The Mountains of the Wolves are a place in the north-west of Galedon. The conditions are harsh in all the seasons, and very few live there. There are odd mountain tribes, who do seek refuge in the caves up high on the mountain, and occasionally descned down to hunt and fish and gather food. Few humans choose a life in such an isolated place, and the region is quite dangerous. It is said, that many of the humans living there, are criminals who have been banished from their own countries. Humans are not the only ones living there either, there are trolls and orcs and wolves, and a lot of smaller mountain folk living there. Many inhabitants of this area roam large areas in hunt for food, and in order to keep safe. Moving around without at least a spear is very unsafe, and one is not likely to get help if one is in trouble. Likely no one will hear your screams, and even if they will, the folks around here are suspicious enough to rather stay out of trouble and not put themselves in danger.
In the middle of the mountains there is a lake, a large, cold-watered, fresh mountain lake, it is deep, and continues on to be the Great Elven River. The water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom, the fish, lakefolk, seals, and other creatures living there as well. The bottom of the lake is stone, and there is some vegetation that provides hiding places for the inhabitants of the lake. The terrain around the lake is mildly less harsh than higher up in the mountains, but swimming without knowing what's in the water is not recommended. It is a good fishing spot though, and they say you will find pearls and riches if you dare to dive.
Despite the possible minerals you could find in the mountains and the lake, no one has tried to claim the area as their own. It is too far and too dangerous to keep regular workers there, provide them with food and shelter, and the inhabitants of the mountain region are not trustworthy enough to keep trading with regularly.
