Self-replenishing food jar

The self-replenishing food jar is a magical item. It can be made of any material, typically glass or pottery, and a lid of some sort.
When closed, the food supply inside replenishes itself, and the longer you leave it closed the bigger and tastier meal it will provide next time. However, it will always be a surprise what you get once you open it. One who is skilled enough to make one, can of course have some control over what sort of foods it will provide, and for example exclude certain ingredients. This has to be done when the jar is made however, and cannot be changed later.
One of these jars will be enough to supply one person with food. However, when other food sources are available, and the jar is left to itself for longer periods of time (weeks), the next time opened it might well provide a feast for many people.
