Galentean Edge

the Galentean Edge is a chain of stellar systems bordering the Galentaran Reaches Coreward. These systems are considered, or known, to be virtually impossible to traverse safely.
When the Galentean Empire expanded and explored the galaxy, their progress was halted at the Edge, as they lost many exploratory fleets here. When the empire finally figured out the dangers of the edge, they had already lost a considerable fraction of their fleet. Instead of trying to further explore and understand the edge, they instead marked it and never went near them again.
Today, many explorers and prospectors will try to probe the edge and find either a safe system, a way through, or answers to the Galaxy's most profound secret. Even now, many meet their deaths this way, though there are some unverified claims of travellers jumping to an Edge System, and living to tell the tale.
