Hollow

Hollowed is a dark and twisted condition that occurs when an individual willingly or unwillingly undergoes a process where their blood is replaced with a mysterious substance known as Ancestral Ink. This unholy transformation grants them fleeting glimpses of the future, enhancing their combat abilities to a remarkable degree. However, it comes at a great cost—the loss of their free will.
Those afflicted with the Hollow condition become pawns under the control of the Deathscriers, enigmatic sages hailing from the Caluan Desert. These Deathscriers possess the ability to commune with the spirits of the past using the potent Ancestral Ink. They manipulate this rare substance to exert control over the Hollowed warriors, bending them to their will.
The practice of Hollowing and its association with the Deathscriers is widely condemned and shunned across most regions. Only in Clarion, the City of Traitors, is this twisted science and blasphemous use of Deathscrying magic accepted. Clarion stands as a haven for those who seek power at any cost, where the lines between morality and ambition become blurred.
The Hollow warriors, stripped of their autonomy, are utilized as controlled combatants. Their enhanced combat skills, combined with the Deathscriers' manipulation of Ancestral Ink, make them formidable adversaries on the battlefield. The Hollowed exhibit extraordinary prowess, preternatural reflexes, and a ruthless efficiency that can sway the tide of any conflict.
However, the cost of this power is steep. The Hollowed sacrifice their own agency, becoming mere vessels for the Deathscriers' bidding. Their once vibrant spirits are suppressed, replaced by an emptiness that haunts their eyes. The Hollowed are trapped within their own bodies, forced to serve the agenda of their masters.
The boundaries of science, magic, and morality intertwine. The manipulation of Ancestral Ink, once a sacred practice of the Deathscrying tradition, has been perverted into a macabre means of control and domination. The path to power is stained with sacrilege and the forsaking of one's own free will.
